The leisure and hospitality jobs in New York State increased to over 21,600 positions from January 2011 to January 2012; Trade, transportation and utilities positions grew by 19,500 positions from January 2011 to January 2012.2
Of course, New York is also home to Wall Street, so those job seekers with financial or trading savvy may be in luck. Studies show that among financial jobs in New York State, financial activities grew by 15,000 for the 12 months ending January 2012.3

The state has a variety of landscapes and cities offering plenty of sights and activities. The Adirondack Mountains, Hudson Valley, Niagara Falls and Long Island beaches have spectacular scenery and a plethora of things to do. You can ski, hike, fish or swim, for example.
